About
Atelier h

Atelier h. is not a factory, but a lively learning environment where people come first. Our heroes in the making work about sixteen hours a week: partly behind the sewing machine, partly on personal development. A quarter of the time goes to Dutch lessons, career talks and workshops. Experience is not necessary. We take the first step together.

At the end of the learning program, the heroes receive an official vocational certificate that increases their chances of employment. Meanwhile, old work pants, banners and other textiles get a new life as products full of character. On average, each item saves 1,500 liters of water and over 2 kWh of energy.

The biggest difference is in the heroes in the making themselves: they discover their talents and build self-confidence that carries over into family, neighborhood and community.

What our heroes make.

At Atelier h., discarded textiles get a second life. Where someone else sees only old work pants, banners or jackets, our heroes in the making turn them into bags, jackets and corporate gadgets with a story.
Each product is unique, handmade and full of character.

This creates more than just impact by donating: the makers give something beautiful in return. Their creations are for sale, so that companies and individuals not only provide raw material, but can wear pride in the result.

Each stitch shows: less waste, more future - and a product that makes the growth of our heroes tangible.

Personal track.

At Atelier h., heroes in the making who until now have been on the sidelines: refugees, single mothers or career switchers without a diploma, get a running start.

Everyone at Atelier h. has their own story. Fatima would like to get a vocational degree to start working independently. Siti dreams of financial security for her family. Amina wants to develop herself further and move on to a paid job. You too can contribute to a personal trajectory!

Experience it for yourself at a
workshop or team outing.

Social entrepreneurship in action. Learning & making in one half day.

Do you want to make an impact with your team, learn something new and have fun? Then come to Atelier h. for an inspiring workshop. In one half day we combine an informative session on social entrepreneurship with a creative upcycle activity. This way you discover how you can make a real difference as a company, and you go home with your own showpiece!

What it gives you
You gain new insights into social entrepreneurship and corporate venturing while learning, creating and coming out stronger from the experience with your team. You won't go home empty-handed: your own upcycle creation is a tangible reminder of this day. And perhaps most importantly, you will make real social impact, as you work side-by-side with the women of Atelier h. and support their training program.

What does the day look like?

Part 1. Inspiration & knowledge: "Social entrepreneurship with your company"

In this interactive part you will get an insight into the world of social start-ups. We'll take you through:

  • how to set up and grow a social enterprise
  • Why companies choose corporate venturing with a social start-up
  • The social and business added value it delivers
  • the opportunities and obstacles you will encounter along the way

With practical examples and room for dialogue, so you will learn how your organization can make a difference, and get inspiration on how you could shape this for your own company.

Part 2. Creative & connecting: "From old garment to new showpiece"

After the theory, it's time to roll up your own sleeves. Together with the participants of Atelier h., you will get to work with upcycling. Bring an old piece of clothing and transform it into a unique item - for example a tote bag, cushion cover or laptop sleeve.

You will learn basic techniques of sewing and upcycling, work together in a creative setting and go home with a self-made product with a story.
